For most bareboat charters in Croatia you need a recognised skipper certificate (RYA Day Skipper, ICC, or equivalent) plus a VHF licence. If you don’t hold one, we book a professional skipper alongside the boat for the week.
The base charter fee covers the boat, standard equipment, insurance, and final cleaning fee in most cases. Extras such as fuel, port fees, transit log, tourist tax and skipper service are billed separately and explained in the booking summary.
For peak weeks (mid-July to late August) we recommend booking 6–9 months ahead to lock in the boat and the early-bird discount. Shoulder seasons (May, June, September) usually have availability up to a month before departure.
The Sunreef 60 is a serious platform — 60 feet, 7 m beam, 1.5 m draft, typically 25 tonnes loaded — and the Croatian charter fleet keeps a small handful (around 4–6 boats split between Split, Dubrovnik, and Tivat in Montenegro). The boat sleeps 8 guests in 4 double en-suite cabins plus 2 crew bunks in the bow nacelle, so a typical charter carries skipper, hostess, and chef.
Plan two onshore konoba dinners per week. The classic Hvar–Vis loop: Konoba Pojoda in Vis Town for grilled fish and a glass of Vugava (the local indigenous white), Konoba Dalmatino in Komiža for peka lamb and Plavac Mali. From Korčula, walk to Konoba Mate in Pupnat — peka octopus and the Lumbarda Pošip is the order. From Dubrovnik base routes, plan one stop in Mljet’s Pomena (Konoba Galija) for swordfish and Plavac Mali from the Pelješac peninsula.
Croatia’s indigenous varieties matter on a yacht of this caliber. Plavac Mali (Pelješac and Hvar) is the deep red. Pošip (Korčula’s Smokvica and Čara villages) is the dry white. Vugava (Vis) is the rare island white. Grk (Lumbarda only) is rare and worth ordering ahead. A serious charter chef will pre-order from a Korčula cellar like PZ Pošip Čara or from Krajančić in Smokvica.
Stiniva (Vis), Vinogradišće and Soline on Sv. Klement (Pakleni), Lučice (Brač), Tatinja (Šolta), Veliko Jezero (Mljet) — all take a Sunreef 60 with a stern-line ashore. Stiniva has a permitted entry width of 13 m so the 7 m beam is fine. Plan to anchor by 14:00 in peak season — the popular bays fill up.
Sunreef 60 bareboat is rare; nearly all charters are crewed. Crewed week shoulder season: 32,000–42,000 EUR. Peak: 48,000–62,000 EUR. Skipper 240–320 EUR/day, hostess 180–220 EUR/day, chef 320–420 EUR/day. Provisioning and APA (advance provisioning allowance) is typically 3,500–5,500 EUR per week for eight guests.
