Dubrovnik → Lopud
Depart Dubrovnik mid-morning, the city's ancient fortifications glowing warmly in the early sun, for the short 10 NM passage north to the Elaphiti archipelago. Lopud island offers a peaceful first anchorage in its sheltered bay, fringed by Aleppo pines. Drop anchor and take the dinghy ashore to Šunj Beach, a rare sandy crescent on this limestone coast, perfect for a pre-dinner swim. As dusk settles, the air fills with the scent of pine resin and the distant sound of cicadas. Dine ashore at a local konoba, perhaps Konoba Obala, savouring grilled squid (lignje na žaru) paired with a crisp, local Pošip white wine, a perfect introduction to Croatian island life.
Things to do
Swim ashore to the sandy expanse of Šunj Beach
Explore Lopud village's stone pathways
Enjoy fresh grilled squid at a seaside konoba
Walk the pine-shaded trails inland
Mooring tip
Anchor in Lopud bay in sand and weed at 5-10 metres; holding is generally good. No mooring lines are available.

Lopud → Saplunara Bay (Mljet)
Today's 18-nautical-mile sail south brings you to Saplunara Bay on the island of Mljet, a tranquil haven often overlooked by larger yachts. The bay is a horseshoe of shallow, crystalline water, framed by fragrant Aleppo pines and soft sand dunes, reminiscent of the Mediterranean's wilder side. Anchor in the sheltered bay, then take the dinghy ashore to discover Blace Beach, a secluded stretch of sand perfect for a pre-dinner swim. For dinner, seek out one of the family-run konobas lining the shore, where fresh-caught orada (sea bream) is grilled over olive-wood embers. As dusk settles, the air fills with the scent of wild sage and the gentle murmur of the maestral breeze, a perfect end to the day's passage.
Things to do
Anchor in Saplunara Bay's clear, shallow waters
Swim and relax at the sandy Blace Beach
Dine on grilled orada at a local konoba
Stroll through the pine forest near the bay
Mooring tip
Anchor in Saplunara Bay in 3-5m of sand; holding is excellent. Dinghy ashore to local konobas and beaches.

Saplunara → Pomena (Mljet National Park)
A 12-nautical-mile passage brings you into the heart of Mljet National Park, anchoring in the sheltered bay of Pomena, a quiet settlement of stone houses perfumed by pine and sea salt. From here, kayak across the serene Veliko Jezero (Great Lake), a saltwater expanse connected to the sea by a narrow channel. The 12th-century Benedictine monastery on its islet appears like a mirage. Cycle the shaded paths circling the lake, perhaps stopping at a lakeside tavern for fresh oysters and a glass of local rakija. The shallow, sandy bottom offers good holding, perfect for a peaceful overnight stay, with the cicadas providing a natural soundtrack as dusk settles.
Things to do
Kayak across Veliko Jezero to St. Mary's Island
Visit the 12th-century Benedictine monastery
Cycle the park's shaded paths around the lakes
Enjoy oysters and rakija at a lakeside tavern
Mooring tip
Anchor in Pomena bay on sand in 5-7 metres; holding is excellent, or stern-to on the quay if space permits.

Pomena → Lastovo (Zaklopatica Bay)
Departing Pomena, make the 25-nautical-mile passage west towards Lastovo, an archipelago that feels a world away and is renowned for its dark skies. Zaklopatica Bay, Lastovo's main harbour, offers a sheltered, fjord-like anchorage embraced by steep, pine-clad slopes. Drop anchor in the bay's clear waters, noting the seabed of sand and Posidonia. A short dinghy ride ashore leads to a cluster of waterfront konobas, including Konoba Fumari, known for its lobster specialties. For a panoramic reward, hike the well-trodden path to the Church of St. Cosmas and Damian, perched high above, offering sweeping views across the archipelago and towards the open sea. The scent of pine resin hangs heavy in the air at dusk, and the cicadas' song quiets as the first stars appear.
Things to do
Hike to St. Cosmas and Damian church for island views
Anchor in Zaklopatica Bay's clear, protected waters
Snorkel the bay's underwater caves and reefs
Enjoy fresh lobster pasta at Konoba Fumari
Mooring tip
Anchor in Zaklopatica Bay in 4-7 metres of sand and Posidonia; holding is good. Konoba moorings available.

Zaklopatica → Korčula
Depart Zaklopatica mid-morning for the 15-nautical-mile run south-east towards Korčula Town, often called 'Little Dubrovnik' for its formidable 13th-century fortifications. The approach offers stunning views of the walled city rising from the sea. Moor stern-to within the ACI Marina Korčula, ideally on the eastern side for better protection. Spend the afternoon exploring the tightly packed medieval streets, a UNESCO World Heritage candidate, imagining Marco Polo's life within these walls. The scent of pine resin from the nearby hills drifts down as you find a quiet courtyard taverna to sample the local white Grk wine. As evening approaches, consider the Moreska Sword Dance performance, a unique cultural spectacle held in the shadow of St. Mark's Cathedral.
Things to do
Explore the medieval streets and alleged birthplace of Marco Polo
Sample local Grk wine in a hidden courtyard
Witness the Moreska Sword Dance performance
Visit the Cathedral of St. Mark
Mooring tip
ACI Marina Korčula offers stern-to moorings with good holding in sand; book ahead in high season.

Korčula → Polače (Mljet)
Make the 22-nautical-mile passage east to Polače on Mljet, a natural harbour sheltered by the island's western tip. This sheltered bay is overlooked by the remnants of a Roman palace, a UNESCO World Heritage candidate and a stark contrast to the vibrant green of the surrounding Aleppo pines. Drop anchor in the clear, protected waters, the seabed a mix of sand and rock, or opt for a stern-to mooring at the small quay if space permits. For breathtaking views, ascend Montokuc Hill, a moderate trek offering a 360-degree panorama of the Mljet channel and the distant Pelješac peninsula. As dusk settles and the cicadas begin their evening chorus, enjoy a dinner of crni rižot (black risotto) at a waterside konoba, the ink-dark rice a local delicacy.
Things to do
Hike Montokuc Hill for panoramic Adriatic views
Swim in the clear waters of Polače harbour
Explore the 4th-century Roman palace ruins
Dine on traditional black risotto at a konoba
Mooring tip
Anchor in Polače Bay on sand/rock in 5-10m, or stern-to moor at the quay; holding is good but space is limited.

Polače → Dubrovnik
The 25-nautical-mile reach south to Dubrovnik offers a final taste of the Adriatic's embrace. Consider a stop en route at the Elaphiti Islands, perhaps anchoring in the clear waters off Šipan or Lopud for a refreshing swim. As the afternoon wanes, set course for Dubrovnik, aiming to arrive as the western sun ignites the UNESCO-listed limestone walls with a warm, golden hue. Moor stern-to at the ACI Marina Dubrovnik, just south of the Old Town, and take a taxi or water taxi into the city. Walk the famous Stradun, perhaps pausing for a maraschino liqueur at a pavement café, a fitting end to a week of Croatian sailing.

Anchor for a swim in the Elaphiti Islands
Walk the historic Stradun in Dubrovnik
Enjoy a farewell maraschino liqueur
