For most bareboat charters in Croatia you need a recognised skipper certificate (RYA Day Skipper, ICC, or equivalent) plus a VHF licence. If you don’t hold one, we book a professional skipper alongside the boat for the week.
The base charter fee covers the boat, standard equipment, insurance, and final cleaning fee in most cases. Extras such as fuel, port fees, transit log, tourist tax and skipper service are billed separately and explained in the booking summary.
For peak weeks (mid-July to late August) we recommend booking 6–9 months ahead to lock in the boat and the early-bird discount. Shoulder seasons (May, June, September) usually have availability up to a month before departure.
A luxury catamaran charter in Croatia is built around three concrete things: a 48–56 foot platform with 4 double en-suite cabins, a fully crewed package (skipper plus hostess, often plus chef), and a route that uses the islands rather than sticking to the mainland. The standard fleet picks — Lagoon 50, Bali 5.4, Fountaine Pajot Saona 47, Sunreef 60 — sleep eight guests in genuine comfort and turn the saloon into a working dining room.
Crew salaries set the tone: a registered Croatian skipper earns 200–280 EUR a day; hostess 150–220 EUR; a professional chef 280–380 EUR. A crewed week for eight on a Lagoon 51 typically lands between 18,000 and 28,000 EUR all-in, depending on July/August premiums, fuel, ACI berth fees, and provisioning.
A typical luxury week from Split runs Trogir → Pakleni Islands (Vinogradišće) → Hvar Town → Vis (Stiniva, Zelena Spilja) → Korčula (Lumbarda) → Brač (Bol or Pučišća) → back to Trogir. From Dubrovnik, the loop heads Lopud → Mljet (Veliko Jezero) → Korčula → Lastovo → back. Most legs are 18–35 nautical miles, well within a Maestral-window sail of 5–7 hours.
Half the luxury experience is anchoring inside a bay rather than tying to a marina. Pakleni’s Vinogradišće Bay, Vis’s Stiniva, Mljet’s Veliko Jezero, and Brač’s Lučice all take a stern-line ashore. ACI Marina Split, ACI Marina Trogir, and ACI Marina Korčula handle the working stops between island legs.
Two specifics tend to stick: peka dinners in a konoba — slow-cooked lamb or octopus under an iron bell — paired with Pošip from Korčula or Plavac Mali from Hvar’s Sv. Klement vineyards; and the long swim mornings in Stiniva or Vinogradišće before the day’s wind builds. Plan one konoba dinner mid-week and one chef-on-board dinner late in the week.
