Sukosan → Božava Bay (Dugi Otok)
Departing Sukosan's marina, make a 15-nautical-mile passage west towards Dugi Otok, passing the verdant shores of Ugljan island. Your destination is Božava Bay, a sheltered anchorage on Dugi Otok's northeastern coast, known for its tranquil atmosphere and clear waters. Drop anchor in the bay's southern arm, where the seabed offers good holding in sand and weed at around 6 metres. The surrounding pines offer shade and a fragrant scent, while the water is perfect for a pre-dinner swim. For dinner, row ashore to the village of Božava and find Konoba Fabrika, serving local specialities like lignje na gradele (barbecued squid) with views across the bay as the cicadas begin their evening chorus.
Things to do
Anchor in Božava Bay's southern arm
Swim in the bay's clear, sheltered waters
Dine at Konoba Fabrika in Božava village
Explore the small village of Božava
Mooring tip
Anchor in Božava Bay's south side, good holding in sand and weed, or stern-to at the small village quay if space permits.

Božava → Telaščica Bay
Today's 15-nautical-mile passage south brings you to Telaščica Bay, a spectacular natural harbour on Dugi Otok’s southeastern flank, often called the Adriatic's 'wild theatre'. The bay itself is a deep, calm inlet, but its seaward side is guarded by the imposing Stene cliffs, plunging 100 metres into the indigo sea, a dramatic sight for any sailor. Drop anchor within the bay and take the dinghy to the Mir Lake entrance. This unique saline lagoon, warmer than the surrounding sea, offers a surreal swimming experience. Later, explore the island’s interior via clifftop paths, observing the semi-wild donkeys that roam freely amongst ancient olive groves. The scent of pine resin hangs heavy in the air as dusk approaches.
Things to do
Swim in the unique Mir Lake saline lagoon
Hike clifftop paths spotting wild donkeys
Admire the dramatic Stene sea cliffs
Jump from the rocky ledges into the sea
Mooring tip
Anchor in the bay's sandy seabed (5-10m) or use moorings; book ahead for park entry in high season.

Telaščica Bay → Kornati National Park (Levrnaka, Piškera)
The 15-nautical-mile passage from Telašćica Bay into the heart of Kornati National Park is a journey into a world sculpted by wind and time. Navigate the 89 islands, a starkly beautiful landscape of bare limestone rising from the azure sea. Drop anchor in Vrulje Bay on Levrnaka island, a sheltered anchorage with clear water perfect for an afternoon snorkel over the seabed. As dusk approaches, make the short hop to Piškera, a smaller island within the park, and find a quiet spot near the abandoned fishing settlements. The silence here is profound, broken only by the cicadas' evening chorus. Enjoy dinner aboard, perhaps grilling fresh bream, under a sky unpolluted by city lights. This is the Kornati experience: raw, elemental, and deeply peaceful.
Things to do
Snorkel Vrulje Bay's clear waters off Levrnaka
Explore Piškera's abandoned fishing camps
Hike to the highest point on Piškera for views
Enjoy a quiet evening anchored in the park
Mooring tip
Anchor in Vrulje Bay, Levrnaka, on sand in 4-6 metres; holding is good. Piškera has limited moorings, book ahead in season.

Kornati → Zlarin
Departing Kornati, a 15-nautical-mile sail northeast brings you to Zlarin, the famed Coral Island. This charming village, car-free since 2019, is renowned for its coral jewellery heritage. Wander the narrow stone lanes, perhaps visiting a workshop where artisans meticulously shape the precious red coral into intricate designs. Find a seat on a harbourside bench with a glass of local loza rakija, watching the red glow of St. Michael's Fortress in Šibenik illuminate the twilight sky. The island's clear waters are said to hide the very coral that built its fortunes, a subtle reminder of the sea's bounty. Moor stern-to in the small harbour, a peaceful end to a day's sailing.
Things to do
Wander Zlarin's car-free lanes and coral workshops
Enjoy local loza rakija on a harbour bench
Admire St. Michael's Fortress from the water
Swim in the clear waters surrounding Zlarin
Mooring tip
Zlarin harbour offers stern-to moorings with good holding; arrive early in season as space is limited.

Zlarin → Skradin (Krka National Park)
Depart Zlarin mid-morning for the 15-nautical-mile journey inland via the Krka River estuary towards Skradin. This unique passage takes you past fertile riverbanks and traditional stone villages, the scent of pine resin giving way to damp earth. Mooring is at Marina Skradin, a modern facility at the river's edge. From here, a tender or park shuttle boat whisks you upstream to Skradinski Buk, the park's most famous waterfall. Swim in the clear, cool pools beneath the cascades, feeling the spray on your skin. Enjoy a picnic lunch with local delicacies like Pag cheese before returning to the tranquil riverside town of Skradin for the evening.
Things to do
Take a tender to Skradinski Buk waterfall
Swim in the natural pools below the cascades
Picnic with local cheese and fresh produce
Explore the historic town of Skradin
Mooring tip
Marina Skradin offers stern-to moorings with good holding in the riverbed; book ahead in peak season.

Skradin → Vrgada
Today's 15-nautical-mile passage east from Skradin leads into the lesser-known Kornati fringe, concluding at the island of Vrgada. Drop anchor in the sheltered bay of Vranska or Prapratno, where the clear shallows reveal sandy bottoms ideal for a gentle afternoon swim. Vrgada is famed for its ancient olive groves, some trees over a thousand years old, and its quiet, car-free villages. Seek out Konoba Trattoria Vrgada for a taste of authentic brudet, a rich fish stew slow-cooked in traditional clay pots, often accompanied by the distant strains of local music. As dusk descends, the absence of light pollution allows for an unparalleled view of the star-filled sky, a truly humbling spectacle above the quiet waters.
Things to do
Anchor in Vranska or Prapratno bay
Explore ancient olive groves inland
Enjoy traditional brudet at Konoba Trattoria Vrgada
Walk the island paths to the main village
Mooring tip
Anchor in sand in bays like Vranska or Prapratno; holding is excellent. Limited services ashore, so provision in Skradin.

Vrgada → Sukosan
Begin the 20-nautical-mile return passage to Sukosan from Vrgada, perhaps pausing for a final snorkel at Molat's "Moon Craters" – a submerged karst garden teeming with marine life. As you approach Sukosan Marina, the lights begin to twinkle, a familiar beacon after a week at sea. Secure your berth stern-to, noting the busy fuel pier on the eastern arm. For your farewell dinner, consider Konoba Kod Mare in the village for authentic crni rižot, the rich flavour of cuttlefish ink a fitting endnote. The cicadas' dusk chorus will accompany your final evening, a sensory memory of the Dalmatian coast.
Things to do
Snorkel the submerged karst formations at Molat's Moon Craters
Secure stern-to mooring at Sukosan Marina
Enjoy farewell black risotto at Konoba Kod Mare
Walk the Sukosan harbour promenade at sunset
Mooring tip
Sukosan Marina offers stern-to moorings with good holding; fuel pier is on the eastern arm, best to book ahead in peak season.
